CARPET BROWNING TREATMENT & HAITIAN COTTON CARPET SERVICESHave you purchased a vintage carpet lately? Do you have a fine fabric carpet? Have you noticed any yellowing or browning in your carpets?
Sometimes, that yellowing or browning isn't from dirt or contaminates but maybe it's the fabric itself. Haitian Cotton is a fabric consisting of one hundred percent cotton grown in Haiti and sometimes India. These fibers aren't thoroughly processed leaving bits and pieces of plants and stems in the yarn. The specks give the yarn it's unique naturally rustic appearance. The original colors are white, cream, or tan but can be dyed with other colors to also be two toned. Cellulosic yellowing or Browning is normally found in older carpets. Cotton or jute carpeting are susceptible to browning issues. Browning is also prevalent in other fabrics such as linen, rayon, and viscose. This can also be caused by over-wetting or high alkalinity in carpets. In some scenarios, carpets could show discoloration just by a few drops of water. If you are having to deal with a situation similar to this, don't hesitate to call one of our professional carpet technicians to assist you to get your carpet back to its original color. |
