You can cut off the burnt part with a pair of scissors, clean the area thoroughly, and glue on carpet fibers that match your carpet. 

If you don't want to cut out your precious carpet you could also use sandpaper to gently rub out burnt edges. Make sure to vacuum to get rid of any residue that was left behind.

If after trying the sandpaper trick and you still have scorch marks that remain, try this solution.

Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with ten parts water and soak a cloth in the solution and blot the area. Rub from the outside in. And rinse the area with water and leave to dry.
